Army PEO Aviation requires small unmanned air vehicle (UAV) components that support the development and integration of a common system architecture for small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS). The components will be used to field a sUAS based upon an open architecture and modular design by providing best in breed software and/or hardware technologies. Desired component areas include autopilot software and firmware, payload interface, data link, user interface, communications protocol, and drone morphology.

The Solution

Modal AI is a flight control module that provides a Long Term Evolution (LTE)-Based Ground Controller and flight controller hardware with a powerful onboard companion computer to run vision-based autonomy software. It includes multiple UAS control from one operator, providing data on multiple UAVs at a single moment in time.
