The Problem This Solution Solves
The U.S. Army has limited access to a small, rapidly-deployable, inexpensive, and trusted commercial reconnaissance vehicles to provide real-time situational awareness. sUAS are increasingly relevant on the battlefield and enemies have the ability to purchase COTS drones on Amazon. A streamlined acquisition process was needed to rapidly design, develop, test, and field cybersecure drones.
The Solution
Skydio’s X2D-RQ-28A integrates industry leading drone technology with specific DoD capability requirements to field a ruggedized, portable quadcopter based on an open and modular architecture. A scalable model and open architecture approach allows for continuous technology refreshes for requirements that include integration of a gimbaled thermal camera, secure data link, and Government controller. The X2D RQ-28A comes with a FLIR thermal sensor, strobe lighting, night flight capabilities, and has an endurance of 35 minutes.
