John Chen

Mr. Chen is the Chief Information Officer of the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU). As Chief Information Officer, John oversees the information technology (IT) department and leads DIU’s strategic IT initiatives. His team leverages cloud technology and the latest software to improve collaboration and cybersecurity. Before joining DIU, John served in different  industries ranging from agriculture, education, intellectual property law, healthcare, software start-up companies, and a winery, culminating in over 20 years of experience.  

John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Master’s degree in Information Assurance and Cybersecurity. He is currently working on his Doctorate Degree in Information Technology.
