ICAP Ceremony and DAU Webinar With Doug Beck

On Tuesday, Oct. 24th, Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) and DAU will host an inaugural ceremony to recognize the achievements of the first class of Immersive Commercial Acquisition Program (ICAP) fellows and welcome the incoming cohort of participants. The event is set for 1:00 p.m. EDT at Howell Auditorium on the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) campus on Ft. Belvoir, Va. and streaming virtually online.

DIU and DAU have partnered to develop and implement the ICAP program as a competitive year-long immersive experience for acquisition professionals willing and excited to be the bridge between the Department of Defense and the commercial tech world.

As the opportunity to recognize this career milestone for both outgoing and incoming ICAP fellows, all are welcome and encouraged to participate in this event. The ceremony will include remarks from both DAU’s President James Woolsey and DIU’s Director, Doug Beck - along with DIU’s Acquisition Director, Cherissa Tamayori, who also serves as the program director.

Registration and event details for in-person, or virtual, attendance is available here: https://einvitations.afit.edu/inv/anim.cfm?i=779249&k=05664B0B7F5E

Following the ceremony, Mr. Woolsey and Mr. Beck will conduct an "On Acquisition" webinar at 2:00 p.m. EDT.  The discussion will explore DIU’s new direction, and how the organization is aligning and building a national innovation force, and driving the DoD’s acceleration of commercial technology with the focus, speed, and scale necessary to deter major conflict or win if forced to fight.

If you join remotely, please remain online for the webinar. For more information on the webinar portion, please visit https://www.dau.edu/events/acquisition-featuring-doug-beck.

PLEASE BE ADVISED: In response to considerations regarding potential government shutdown, the following timeline and adjustments to the event will be decided as follows:

If the government is open on Tuesday, October 10th events will proceed as planned.

If the government is open by Monday, October 16th the events will shift to virtual.

If a shutdown continues past 10/16 the ICAP graduation will be canceled and the “On Acquisition” webinar will be rescheduled.
