The Problem This Solution Solves

The Joint Air Defense Operations Center relies on cameras throughout the National Capital Region to positively identify aircraft and provide visual warnings to ensure aircraft adhere to restricted flight zones. The current camera systems, born out of the post-9/11 security environment, are over 15 years old and nearing end of life.

The Solution

Beyond providing a simple hardware refresh for electro-optical and infrared sensors, the machine learning-powered camera system developed for this solution incorporates software improvements such as auto-tracking capabilities, automated target recognition, image and video compression, and the ability to provide these performance enhancements at edge. This solution has improved the detection of aircraft in the National Capital Region by 10x the previous baseline.
